According to user reports, more than 10,000 individuals have encountered difficulties with the app. The majority of complaints, around 71%, relate to problems accessing Instagram, while 20% of users reported server connection issues. Additionally, 5% indicated that their Instagram feed or timeline was not loading properly.
The outage has notably impacted major U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, Washington, and New York. Users have taken to other platforms, such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, to continue their conversations as Instagram’s messaging system has become completely non-functional during this period.
One user expressed frustration, stating, “Is Instagram down? I can’t reply to my friend.” Another user added, “Instagram down I REPEAT INSTAGRAM DOWN.” These sentiments reflect the widespread concern among users trying to access the platform.
According to Downdetector, 68% of complaints involved app disruptions, while 19% were related to server connection issues, and 7% involved posting troubles. The cause of the disruption remains unclear, and Instagram has not yet provided detailed information about the situation.
In a statement, Instagram Communications acknowledged the issues, saying, “We are aware some of you might be experiencing issues with IG at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.” This response indicates that the company is actively addressing the outage.
