Amber davies pulls out of Legally Blonde The Musical due to illness
Amber Davies withdraws from shows
Amber Davies has pulled out of upcoming Legally Blonde The Musical shows due to a lingering illness, leaving her understudy, Hannah Lowther, to take over the role of Elle Woods.
The 29-year-old Davies, who has 1.3 million followers on Instagram, has been struggling with her health for the past month and has been on antibiotics in an effort to recover. In a candid statement, she expressed her concerns about pushing through her illness, stating, “I fear if I keep ‘pushing through’ I will be battling with this for longer than I need to be.”
Davies, who previously starred in The Great Gatsby and won a WhatsOnStage award for her performance, admitted to suffering from burnout as she tried to balance her health with her demanding schedule. “After talking to my doctor, being on antibiotics and trying to recover whilst doing shows is getting me and my health NOWHERE,” she said.
Lowther, who has 1.3 million followers on TikTok, will step in as Davies continues her recovery. Davies noted, “Been working on this lingering illness for a month now so I’ll be off again from my beautiful Elle Woods.”
The Legally Blonde tour is set to conclude in January 2027, and while Davies’ absence is a setback, her health remains the priority.
Davies rose to fame after winning the third series of ITV’s Love Island in 2017 and has since established a successful career in musical theatre. Her fans and colleagues have expressed support during this challenging time.
As Davies focuses on her recovery, the theatre community is rallying behind her, with many hoping for her swift return to the stage. Details remain unconfirmed regarding when she might be able to resume her role.
