Dominic Chinea Relocates to Cornwall for New Show
Dominic Chinea Relocates to Cornwall
Dominic Chinea has relocated from Kent to Cornwall with his wife Maria and their dog Wendy to launch his new show, ‘Dom Chinea’s Cornish Workshop’, which premiered on March 9, 2026. The show follows Dominic as he renovates a rundown farmhouse and transforms a cow barn into a workshop.
In his new series, Dominic plans to use local tradespeople to assist with his projects, emphasizing his desire to get involved in local life. “I wanted to get involved in local life and help make a difference,” he stated. The first episode showcases his efforts to weatherproof a derelict cowshed, which he described as “very smelly.”
Dominic, who has been a key member of ‘The Repair Shop’ since 2017, is known for reviving various items on the show. His move to Cornwall has not been without challenges, as he faced difficulties navigating the narrow Cornish lanes. “Cornish lanes are so narrow and so tight – especially round here, I’m always forced to drive into the bush, scraping the side of my van on brambles and bushes,” he remarked.
The coastline in Cornwall has captivated Dominic, who described it as stunning. He is also working on a garden pond and converting a mini into an ice cream van as part of his new projects. With five episodes planned for ‘Dom Chinea’s Cornish Workshop’, viewers can expect a variety of engaging content.
Dominic’s move comes after 15 years of storing a jack before finally using it, showcasing his commitment to his new life in Cornwall. The Geevor tin mine, which officially closed in 1990, is a notable landmark in the area, adding historical context to his new surroundings.
Despite the excitement surrounding his new projects, Dominic faced an injury during filming when his hand was pulled into a drill. “There’s a lot of pressure!” he expressed, highlighting the challenges of his new venture.
As the series progresses, observers are eager to see how Dominic’s projects unfold and the impact he will have on the local community. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any future collaborations with local artisans or additional projects he may undertake.
