Gillingham F.C. celebrates Sam Vokes’ retirement with victory
On May 6, 2025, Sam Vokes concluded his professional career with a guard of honour and a victory in Gillingham’s last match of the 2025/26 season against Shrewsbury Town.
The match, held at Priestfield Stadium, ended with a score of 1-0. Garath McCleary scored the winning goal from an impressive distance of 25 yards.
Vokes, who made a total of 751 appearances throughout his career, expressed pride in his achievements. “I am proud of what I have achieved,” he stated after the game.
