Hotmail Users Affected by Outlook Outage
Microsoft’s Outlook and Hotmail services faced a significant email outage on April 27, 2026, affecting over 1,200 users across the UK and US. Specifically, more than 800 users in the UK reported issues accessing Outlook services, while around 400 users in the US encountered similar problems.
A staggering 64 percent of these reported issues related to logging in. Users also faced difficulties receiving messages—indicating widespread disruption beyond simple access problems.
Microsoft acknowledged the disruption on its Service Health page and is currently investigating the root cause of the server failures affecting Outlook. The company stated that local fixes are unlikely to be effective until these server-side issues are resolved.
The outage began just before 10 a.m., leaving many users frustrated with their email login problems. Microsoft emphasized that they are focused on validating interactions across service components to identify next steps.
This incident highlights ongoing vulnerabilities within Microsoft services. While officials have not disclosed specific details about the underlying causes, it is clear that client sign-in scenarios may be contributing to the reported behavior.
As Microsoft works to restore full functionality, many users remain in limbo regarding their email access issues. The company has yet to provide a timeline for resolution, leaving affected individuals uncertain about when normal service will resume.
