Sources familiar with Wednesday’s discussions indicate that Real Madrid has now increased their offer to a level that acknowledges Vinicius Junior’s importance to the club and its project. The player now faces a decision regarding whether to renew his contract, pursue free agency next summer, or consider the opportunity presented by Arsenal.
Arsenal’s interest and Real Madrid’s summer activity
Reports last week suggested that Arsenal’s ownership had approved moving forward with a potential deal for Vinicius Junior, who is considered a top target for the reigning Premier League champions to strengthen their forward line. The player joined Real Madrid from Brazilian club Flamengo in July 2018.
Vinicius Junior recently returned to Madrid for pre-season training after participating in this summer’s World Cup. He scored four goals in five appearances for Carlo Ancelotti‘s Brazil side during the tournament.
