New Manchester United Show Announced

Wayne Rooney, the former Manchester United captain, is set to co-host a new show dedicated to the club this season. He will be joined by influencer Mark Goldbridge. The programme, titled Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, is part of a broader distribution agreement with Disney+.

The new show will analyse Manchester United’s latest results and performances, offering expert insight, opinions, and in-depth discussions on key topics surrounding the club. It is scheduled to debut with 50 episodes on Disney+, in addition to existing streaming platforms and The Overlap’s The United Stand YouTube channel. Extended episode content will be exclusive to the streaming service.

Rooney expressed his delight at co-hosting the new show with Goldbridge, noting that it felt like a natural progression after his work on Stick to Football and The Overlap’s Fan Debate show. He highlighted the show’s focus on everything related to Manchester United.

The Overlap’s Expanding Reach

The new programme is an expansion of Gary Neville’s The Overlap network. Neville, a former England defender, founded The Overlap in 2021, and it has since grown to include other sports such as cricket and rugby. Earlier this year, Neville acquired Goldbridge’s YouTube channels, which include The United Stand and That’s Football, integrating them into The Overlap network.

Neville stated that the partnership with Disney+ allows The Overlap to expand its reach without compromising its identity. He emphasised that their community would continue to access content via YouTube, while Disney+’s global audience would also be able to discover and enjoy it. This collaboration aims to introduce their shows to millions of new viewers globally.

Goldbridge, whose real name is Brent di Cesare, has a significant online presence with over 3.8 million followers across his two YouTube channels. His videos are known for their viral clips, often featuring his reactions and football opinions.

Disney+ Partnership and Content Details

Disney+ has secured a one-year exclusive agreement with The Overlap, making it the headline sponsor for both Stick to Football and the new Stick to United with Wayne Rooney for the upcoming 2026/2027 football season. The streaming service will also commission exclusive episodes and companion content for its platform.

Stick to United with Wayne Rooney is set to stream weekly from Tuesday, 18 August, while Stick to Football will be available weekly from Thursday, 20 August, on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland. The Stick to Football show, hosted by Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Ian Wright, and Roy Keane, will feature 40 new episodes, with 20 of these exclusive to Disney+ for a limited period. Additionally, Disney+ has commissioned six exclusive episodes of Stick to Football from the UK.

Sean Doyle, VP, Unscripted, Disney+ EMEA, expressed excitement about bringing popular sports shows to the platform, noting that adding both shows broadens their local original content offering. He highlighted the unique nature of what Gary Neville and The Overlap team have created with both programmes.

Wayne Rooney will also continue his punditry role on Match of the Day, and The Wayne Rooney Show is scheduled to return to BBC platforms this season.
