A teenage girl was stabbed at Thorpe St Andrew School in Norwich at approximately 10:20am on March 11, 2026. The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Following the incident, the school went into lockdown, lasting for over an hour. Parents were informed and rushed to the school during this time, as police installed a cordon around the area where the suspect was apprehended.

Owen Jenkins, from the Broad Horizons Education Trust, stated, “This has obviously been a distressing experience for our whole community.” He also mentioned that additional resources and counseling would be provided for affected students.

Thorpe St Andrew School serves students aged 11 to 18 and has a total of 1,834 pupils. The school was rated Good in its 2025 Ofsted inspection. It had recently been the focus of a police investigation into alleged antisemitic abuse, although the stabbing is not believed to be linked to that incident.
