Players of the Postcode Lottery living in the LL13 0RU area of Marchwiel were announced as one of the daily UK £1,000 prize draw winners on March 25, 2026. This announcement highlights the ongoing excitement surrounding the lottery, which has become a staple for many residents.

The People’s Postcode Lottery manages lotteries for 20 Postcode Trusts, with one-third of every ticket sold being donated to charity. Players contribute £12 a month to participate in the daily draws, which award £1,000 to residents on 20 lucky UK streets each day.

In addition to the daily draws, there is a weekly draw on Thursdays that awards £10 each to players in 1,000 postcodes, further enhancing the community spirit fostered by the lottery. Since its inception in 2005, the People’s Postcode Lottery has raised over £950 million for good causes, demonstrating its significant impact on various charitable initiatives.

In related news, Hertford Town Council has been awarded £3.5 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a project aimed at renewing the grounds of Hertford Castle. This grant represents 83 percent of the project cost, with the council contributing £495,949.

Moreover, an additional £2.2 million of National Lottery funding has been announced to support community, arts, and sports activities across Scotland. This investment is comprised of £1 million from the National Lottery Community Fund, £1 million from SportScotland, and £200,000 from Creative Scotland.

From July 23 to August 2, Glasgow will host over 3,000 athletes from 74 nations competing for 215 medals across 10 sports and six Para sports, further showcasing the importance of community engagement through sports.

Neil Ritch, a representative from the National Lottery, stated, “Thanks to National Lottery players, National Lottery Awards for All is here to help communities across Scotland celebrate what matters to them.” This sentiment reflects the broader goal of the lottery to enhance community involvement.

Phil Batty OBE added, “This additional National Lottery investment is the perfect springboard to support local groups inspired by Glasgow 2026,” emphasizing the potential for local initiatives to thrive with this funding.

As the excitement continues to build around the lottery, local communities remain engaged and hopeful for future winnings and the positive impact of the funds raised for charitable causes.

What is the latest from the National Lottery?

The National Lottery’s EuroMillions draw on March 10, 2026, raises the question of who will claim the staggering £181 million rollover jackpot. This draw guarantees at least one millionaire in the UK Millionaire Maker segment of the game, adding to the excitement for ticket holders.

To win the EuroMillions, participants must match all five main numbers along with the two Lucky Stars. The winning numbers for this draw are 12, 14, 27, 44, 50, with the Lucky Stars being 4 and 12. Additionally, the Thunderball numbers drawn on the same day are 10, 22, 23, 29, 30, and the Thunderball is 12.

Community Impact of the National Lottery

Beyond the excitement of the draws, the National Lottery continues to play a vital role in supporting community initiatives. Recently, Ushaw Historic House received a total of £400,000 in funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England, with £250,000 coming from the Heritage Fund and £150,000 from Historic England. Lucy Jenkins, Co-CEO at Ushaw, remarked, “These grants from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England are a powerful vote of confidence in Ushaw’s journey to date and in our ambitions for the future.”

Moreover, the Everywhere At Once festival, scheduled for June 26-28, 2026, will see participation from over 500 grassroots music venues. This festival aims to celebrate the grassroots music ecosystem, highlighting the National Lottery’s ongoing commitment to supporting local arts since 2021. Mark Davyd, CEO of Music Venue Trust, stated, “Thanks to the support from The National Lottery, Everywhere At Once can pair visibility with meaningful, practical support, putting real investment directly into venues while amplifying their collective voice.”

Alastair Ruxton, Chief Impact Officer at Allwyn, emphasized the importance of National Lottery funding, stating, “National Lottery funding is the cornerstone of the arts across the country and, because of our players, projects and venues – both large and small – can continue to play a role in each and every community.”

As the National Lottery continues to impact both individual lives through its draws and community projects through its funding, the anticipation for future events and initiatives remains high.
