Born in Morocco in 1968, Fares rose to fame with her breakthrough role in the film ‘Les Rivières pourpres’ (The Crimson Rivers) released in 2000. This film solidified her status as a prominent actress in France.

In addition to her acting career, Fares had faced significant health issues. She underwent brain surgery in 2007 due to an aneurysm and had three heart surgeries within four years prior to her death.

Fares was set to direct her first feature film later in 2026—a testament to her enduring passion for filmmaking. However, these plans were tragically cut short.

She is survived by two daughters, Cylia and Shana Chasman. Cylia expressed profound grief stating, “Mama. This is a heartbreak I will never get over.” Her family emphasized the dual loss—an artist and a mother.
