ITV’s new thriller Gone stars David Morrissey as the headmaster of a prestigious private school who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his wife. The series, which has already generated buzz, was filmed in and around Bristol, showcasing the region’s scenic locales.

The storyline of Gone is inspired by the real-life murder of Melanie Road, a 17-year-old who was tragically murdered in June 1984. This chilling backdrop adds depth to the series, as viewers are drawn into a narrative that intertwines personal and institutional complexities.

Filming took place at several notable locations, including Downside School in Stratton-the-Fosse, a real public school in Bath. Additional scenes were shot in the village of Saltford, providing an authentic setting for the drama.

Sets for the police station and various interiors of the Polly house were constructed at The Bottle Yard Studios, a hub for television and film production in the UK. This choice of location underscores ITV’s commitment to utilizing local talent and resources.

David Morrissey described his character, stating, “He’s a product, certainly, of his institution,” highlighting the pressures and expectations placed on individuals in such esteemed environments. Co-star Eve Myles added, “It’s a fascinating story, it’s an extraordinary case to follow,” emphasizing the gripping nature of the plot.

In addition to Gone, ITV is gearing up for the Cheltenham Festival, set to take place from March 10-13, 2026. Viewers in the UK can catch the first five races on ITV1, although the final two races of each day will be available only through Racing TV.

Tickets for the Cheltenham Festival are priced at £103.50 for a daily Club Enclosure ticket and £73.80 for Tattersalls tickets, reflecting the event’s popularity. The Best Mate enclosure offers day tickets at £54 for the first three days.

Each day includes a feature race at 4 PM GMT, except for Thursday, which will host two feature races. The final race of the festival, the prestigious Gold Cup, will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026.
