Cheshire Police’s investigation into serious allegations of sexual offences, forced marriage, and modern slavery has led to multiple arrests in Crewe. The police became aware of these allegations back in March 2023, prompting a significant response.

The decisive moment came when officers raided three properties, including Webb House, resulting in the arrest of seven men and three women. All ten individuals were subsequently released on conditional bail, which restricts their return to Webb House.

Despite concluding searches at the headquarters of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light, Cheshire Police will maintain an ongoing presence in the area. This is intended to reassure the community while ensuring safety.

While the police have completed their searches, they emphasize that investigations are still active. Local residents may notice an increased police presence as officers continue to gather information related to these serious allegations.

Experts suggest that such investigations can have profound effects on communities. The presence of law enforcement can both deter further criminal activity and provide support for victims who may be hesitant to come forward.

The situation remains fluid, with no timeline shared regarding the next steps in the investigation. However, the community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

A large-scale police operation involving 500 officers has led to multiple arrests at the headquarters of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light in Crewe, Cheshire, on April 29, 2026. This operation comes amid serious allegations of sexual offences and modern slavery.

The police raided the AROPL headquarters following reports of severe allegations, including forced marriage. The alleged offences reportedly took place in 2023 and involved one victim, a woman who was a member of the group.

The operation mobilized about 500 officers from Cheshire Police. The AROPL headquarters is based out of a former orphanage known as Webb House, where approximately 150 people currently reside. Among them are 56 children, who are understood to be home-schooled.

The group moved its headquarters to the UK from Sweden in 2021. Since then, it has had an estimated 7,000 people interacting with its movement across England.

The investigation focuses on individual suspects rather than the religious group as a whole. Suspects include men and women from various nationalities including American, Mexican, British, German, and Spanish.

Chief Superintendent Gareth Wrigley emphasized that “This is not an investigation into the religion; this is an investigation into the serious allegations which have been reported to us.” He also stated that they treat all reports of sexual assault seriously and are committed to achieving justice.

In response to the arrests, Wrigley noted that they are working closely with local partners to provide safeguarding measures for residents at Webb House. AROPL’s lawyers have stated that any wrongdoing is vehemently denied by their client.

Gary Glitter, once a prominent figure in British pop music, now faces severe health issues while incarcerated. His current state raises questions about his future.

Gary Glitter, now 81 years old, was once a celebrated figure in the British pop music scene during the glam rock era of the 1970s. However, his legacy has been overshadowed by a series of serious legal troubles and convictions for sexual offences against minors. Initially sentenced to 16 years in 2015 for abusing three young girls, Glitter was released in February 2023 after serving half of his sentence but was quickly recalled to prison.

Currently held at HMP Channings Wood in Devon, Glitter’s health has reportedly deteriorated significantly. He is almost entirely deaf and reliant on a wheelchair, spending up to 23 hours a day confined to his cell. This stark contrast to his previous life as a vibrant performer highlights the severity of his current situation.

Glitter’s recent parole application was rejected due to a continued risk to children, and he is now housed in the Vulnerable Prisoner Unit for his own protection. This unit is designed for inmates who may be at risk from other prisoners, indicating the level of concern surrounding his safety.

As of now, Glitter is described as morose and withdrawn, with ongoing legal pressures weighing heavily on him. An insider noted, “He is on his last legs, with his body giving up,” emphasizing the gravity of his physical decline.

Financially, Glitter has also faced challenges. He was declared bankrupt in April 2025 after failing to pay a court-ordered compensation award of £508,000. This financial burden adds another layer of distress to his already troubled existence.

With a sentence that is not due to expire until 2031, Glitter’s future remains uncertain. He is entitled to spend only £33 a week in the prison canteen, further limiting his quality of life behind bars.

Experts have pointed out that Glitter’s current state is a direct result of his past actions and the legal system’s response to his crimes. As one source stated, “He would not be safe on another wing,” highlighting the ongoing risks associated with his presence in the prison system.

In summary, Gary Glitter’s decline from a pop icon to a frail inmate serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of his actions. The ongoing legal and health challenges he faces paint a grim picture of his remaining years.
