“I’m delighted to be here. The opportunity to manage a massive club was too good to turn down,” said Pete Wild following his appointment as the new manager of Tranmere Rovers.

Wild steps into the role after the dismissal of Andy Crosby, who was let go after a dismal run of ten defeats in eleven games left the team struggling in 19th place in League Two, just seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Wild’s first match in charge will be against Fleetwood Town, a club he previously managed until January 2026. His experience includes over 300 matches in management, having begun his career with Oldham Athletic in 2018.

Mark Palios, the chairman of Tranmere Rovers, expressed confidence in Wild’s abilities, stating, “Pete was the standout candidate – he has managed more than 300 matches and has shown the ability to improve the teams he has worked with.” This endorsement comes at a critical time for the club.

Wild acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying, “We’re in a tough predicament at the moment but I believe we can make progress and push forwards with the squad we have at the club.” His appointment comes as Tranmere aims to stabilize and regain confidence after a tumultuous period.

In addition to Wild, Adam Temple will assist in the managerial duties, while Andy Parkinson will resume his role as first-team coach. This new leadership team hopes to turn around the club’s fortunes.

Prior to joining Tranmere, Wild had a successful stint at Halifax Town, where he achieved a play-off place twice in the National League, and later managed Barrow before moving to Fleetwood.

As Wild prepares for his debut match, the focus will be on revitalizing a squad that has faced significant challenges, including injuries. “It’s not an easy situation for any manager coming into an injury-ravaged squad but Pete has assured me he is relishing the opportunity to stabilise and instil some confidence in the team as we look to get back to winning ways,” Palios added.

With the new season well underway, all eyes will be on Prenton Park to see how Wild’s leadership impacts Tranmere’s performance in the coming weeks.
